ZILON – How we achieved the "BEST SELLER" badge with a brand new brand

9 de April de 2026

Problem Description

This brand started with a huge challenge: becoming number one in sales on Amazon Spain within the radio category, competing directly with giants like Samsung, Panasonic, or Prunus—brands with years of history and recognition.

From a small town in Barcelona, the goal of the investor behind Zilon was clear: not just to enter the category, but to dominate it. To achieve this, the challenge was not only to outshine Prunus or Panasonic but to understand that the real battle was fought within the Amazon ecosystem.

The main challenge was building a differentiated brand image fully aligned with the platform’s guidelines. On Amazon, it’s not just about who has the best product, but who best understands and respects its rules, policies, and “tricks.” Zilon opted for a seemingly “commodity” and unglamorous category—who would launch radios in 2025?—but that’s precisely where the opportunity lay: a real consumer pain point was detected, and it was decided to tackle it with a solid product and a millimetric strategy.

This required a significant investment in product development at its origin, strict compliance with customs and European regulations, and very careful management of the critical binomial in Amazon: stock and cash flow. All this supported by a detailed listing and extremely refined PPC campaigns. It wasn’t easy, but that was the playground, and Zilon decided to dominate it.

Set Objectives

  • Aggressive Entry into Amazon: The strategy was not to “test the waters,” but to enter Amazon Spain with a strong bet, assuming a high initial investment as long as the model was scalable in the long term.

  • Achieving #1 in the Category: The main objective was to reach #1 in sales within the radio category. This milestone is key on Amazon: when the customer sees the “Best Seller” badge, conversion skyrockets. In many cases, the buyer chooses the #1 even if it costs €5 more than the second option.

  • Positioning by Value, Not Price: We didn’t seek to compete solely on price, but through perception of leadership and trust. The goal was for Zilon to be the reference in the category, even with a price slightly higher than the competition.

  • Strategic Use of PPC (Amazon Advertising): PPC campaigns were not just a support pillar but a key growth driver. The objective was to maintain a controlled ACOS that allowed for scaling campaigns without compromising the overall profitability of the project.

Applied Strategy

  • Product Design and Catalog Vision: While the product was being defined at a technical level (components, sound quality, materials, versions, and alternative models), we worked in parallel on a clear catalog vision: a “flagship” product that would lead the category and various complementary variants to consolidate the brand in the medium term.

  • Creating a “20/10” Listing Before Having Stock: Long before the first unit arrived in Spain, a pinpoint listing was constructed:

    • Title optimized to the detail for SEO and conversion.

    • Bullet points oriented toward real benefits for the user.

    • Detailed description to resolve objections.

    • A+ Content designed to convey brand, value, and trust.

    • The goal was clear: this listing should become the brand’s main asset and, over time, the best-selling radio in Amazon Spain.

  • Preparation of PPC Campaigns Before Launch: The agency pre-configured a set of winning campaigns (Sponsored Products and other key strategies) to be activated at the exact moment the stock entered Amazon. Nothing was improvised; the campaigns were born ready to scale.

  • Initial Boost with Verified Reviews (Vine Program): In parallel, the launch of the first reviews was planned through the Amazon Vine program, requesting the first 30 opinions to accelerate customer trust and support conversion from day one.

I loved working with Artem and his team; they looked after me at all times. I am very demanding with my standards and they made sure I was accompanied in my launch on Amazon. Recommended.

Conclusion

The Zilon case study demonstrates that on Amazon, it’s not the one with the most history who wins, but the one who best understands the rules of the game. A brand that starts from scratch, in a town in Barcelona, can compete—and beat—giants like Samsung or Panasonic if it combines three pillars:

  • Extreme preparation before selling the first unit: 20/10 listing, ready campaigns, stock in Amazon, regulatory compliance, and catalog vision. Nothing was improvised when the stock arrived.

  • Obsession with the brand, even in a “commodity”: It wasn’t just “one more radio” being sold; a brand of radios was built. The focus was not just on the winning product, but on the ecosystem of references that consolidate leadership.

  • Intelligent use of PPC as a lever, not a crutch: Campaigns were designed to be profitable from the start (ACOS ~15%) and serve as a solid base driver: good product, good listing, good customer experience.

In summary: when you combine a worked product, a surgical listing, and disciplined execution on Amazon, including a forgotten category can be turned into a revenue machine and a leading brand. Zilon didn’t have luck; it had method.
